Famed New York sculptor and artist Barton Lidice Benes loved to expand the horizons of art. Larry Hagman, one of his biggest supporters and collectors, once said: 'Benes is the LSD of the art world". Which is perhaps why Hagman loved him so much! This is one of Benes' mix-media pieces. Entitled "Shell Hat & Hat Box, it is an assemblage with, as the title suggests, a hat and hatbox, made of mixed media and sea shells. Size: Hat 5”x16”, Box9”x20”. Comes from the Larry Hagman Estate. Professionally appraised at $5,000 ($2,500 for the hat and $2,500 for the hatbox).
