BSG Props Funeral Flag and Tarot Death Card

Production made screen printed nylon flag featuring a yellow Colonial symbol on a red, silver and blue background. Flag is soiled from use. Measures 89″ × 29½″. The card is a production-made tarot card. Front depicts a skeletal image wielding a sickle with the numeral “13” and the word “Death” underneath; the reverse has a tan double Colonial Phoenix symbol atop a multi-colored field. Measures 3⅖″ × 5⅖″ and has cut corners.

Taken directly from the set of the NBC/Universal production, Battlestar Galactica, by Propworx staff.

Colonial funeral flags honored the dead crew members of Galactica. These flags were used to cover the fallen out of respect for their sacrifice. Flags were folded and given to next of kin if available, or in most cases, saved for the next ceremony. Also includes the double of a death tarot card. An old man on the Prometheus has a table on which he deals nothing but death cards. From the Second Season episode “Black Market.”
