BSG Props Pyramid Ball Grenade
Production-modified miniature soccer ball painted black with three red stripes and one hexagonal piece made into a hinge so a rubber “detonator” could be placed inside. Vinyl ball from an unknown manufacturer with a core most likely made of foam. Black and red paint has cracked slightly over part of the surface. Ball measures 4½″ in diameter, detonator measures 1¾″ in diameter and ½″ high.
Provenance
Taken directly from the set of the NBC/Universal production, Battlestar Galactica, by Propworx staff.
The Caprica Buccaneers were conducting high-altitude training prior to the Cylon attack and afterwards became resistance fighters led by Samuel T. Anders. C-Bucs player Wheeler stuffed C4 explosive into a pyramid ball and added a detonator to make “a homemade grenade.” Used by Lawrence Haegert in the telefilm “The Plan.”
