Katharine Hepburn Signed Letter

Next to Meryl Streep, the legendary Katharine Hepburn is one of the most nominated and Academy Award Winning Actress in history, with four Best Actress wins and eight nominations. From the early high energy screwball comedy performances in "Bringing Up Baby, and "The Philadelphia Story", to her more "mannered" characters of "The African Queen", and "The Rainmaker", to her amazing series of comedy's and dramas teaming with secret love Spencer Tracy, to her regal maturity and trademark wavering voice of "Rooster Cogburn", "Love Among the Ruins", and "On Golden Pond", Hepburn was a true original. This is an extremely rare bit of Hepburn memorabilia, which ironically says so much about her personality. Artie Kern, collector and nephew of legendary songwriter Sammy Cahn, was collecting autographs and other treasures for the Songwriter's Hall of Fame Museum, and sent a request to Ms. Hepburn. What came back was pure Katherine Hepburn. On her very official and rare "Katherine Houghton Hepburn" stationary she had typed out: "Dear Artie, I am sorry but I do not sign photographs, posters or anything sent here to the house." Then she signs the letter! I'm sure the irony of such a gesture was not lost on her. She had to adhere to her strict rule, but she also loved Sammy Cahn, and wanted to help, so she did it as only Hepburn would. This is that original letter, signed by Ms. Hepburn. It has been framed, A wonderful treasured and very rare collectable! Comes with a Letter of Providence from Artie Kern who was the movie memorabilia consultant to the Song Writers Hall of Fame from 1980-1993. Frame is approx 6.5"x8.
