Gangs of New York Woman's Dead Rabbit Costume

In “Gangs of New York” (2002), two rival gangs in mid 1800 New York fight it out. The “Natives” (Irish who were born in America), and the “Dead Rabbits” (recent immigrants). This costume is created to be worn by one of the Dead Rabbit’s gang members' women. One of the Dead Rabbits' “insignias” was to wear shirts that had red horizontal lines painted or dyed on them. To show their allegiance their women also dyed red on their own dresses and would wear a red sash around their waists. This costume is an extremely authentic dress, with such a red dye, in extra thick cotton, and includes a fabric button covered blouse, red sash and leather belt. The dress is large, blouse medium.
