A great "ride" of a movie, "Vera Cruz" (1954) takes place during the Mexican Rebellion of 1866. Two rather odiferous characters, Benjamin Trane (Gary Cooper), and Joe Erin (Burt Lancaster) are hired by Emperor Maximillian himself (George Macready) to escort the countess (Denise Darcel) out of the war zone. This is Gary Cooper's actual hero grey tails jacket and green velvet short pants worn in this classic.
