This lot includes 2 costumes: 1). Brown dress coat with checkered collar and cuffs, made for a period production and worn by actor Joseph Schildkraut in a Golden Age film. Includes a United Costumers tag with the actor's name handwritten on it. Schildkraut received an Academy Award for his performance in the 1937 classic The Life of Emile Zola and further appeared as the father in The Diary of Anne Frank (1959). 2). Brown wool vest, worn by actor Franchot Tone. Includes a United Costumers tag with Tone's name handwritten alongside a production number of 703 B. Tone was a prominent stage and film actor of the 30s and 40s who appeared in such classics as Mutiny on the Bounty, The Lives of a Bengal Lancer and Advise and Consent. His leading man good looks and regal bearing served him well in many of these films.
