Ben Hur (1959) Roman Soldier Chest Armor

From the 1959 epic adventure 'Ben Hur,' this is a full-size metal chest and back 'battle' armor piece. The armor is made from hand-forged tin or sheet metal with large bent metal 'shoulder harnesses' riveted to the front and back. The sides are fastenable with small leather straps. The exterior of the armor is somewhat rusted and the foam lining inside is crumbling off. There is a cloth yellow bow tied through the shoulder plates on the reverse. (measures approx. 18" tall, 16" across). Oversized item. Additional postage required. This collection of 'Ben Hur' memorabilia came from an estate in New Jersey with the original purchase dating back to the early 70's from the David Weisz studios auction in Los Angeles. This collector passed away recently and the 45 year old collection was sold recently at Berman's Auction Gallery.
