Jack Davis Hand Drawn Sketch
Photographs: © Premiere Props
An original pencil sketch by Jack Davis, made as a preliminary concept for Group W's news service. Group W is an alternate name for the Westinghouse Broadcasting Company. The firm hired Davis to design several print ads for them, among them this one depicting two men caught in the rain, the happier one with an umbrella. For the final concept, a print copy of which is included, the happier of the two figures was changed to a woman. Davis was the most famous of all Mad Magazine artists. (approx. 9"x 7")
