Elf - “Hot Cobbler” Prop Magazine - H4-17
A hilarious prop “Hot Cobbler” magazine created for use in Elf (2003), the beloved Christmas comedy directed by Jon Favreau and starring Will Ferrell as Buddy the Elf. This 11" x 8" prop magazine was custom-made by the production and features a specially printed cover designed to resemble a cheeky, adult-themed parody publication. The “Hot Cobbler” cover showcases a blonde model in traditional attire holding oversized wooden shoes, with tongue-in-cheek headlines like “Cobbler Girls Tell All” and “Special Tour – A Hot Night Out With Our Cobbler Girls.” The production achieved the look by applying the custom-printed “Hot Cobbler” cover over an existing commercial magazine, which retains its full original interior pages and advertisements. The back cover humorously promotes “Hot Milk… It’ll Mooove You!”, another clever in-world spoof advertisement crafted for Elf. Not seen in the final cut of the film, but a perfect example of the film’s playful world-building and attention to comedic detail, this prop represents the whimsical and mischievous humor that helped make Elf a modern Christmas classic. A rare and wonderfully absurd artifact from Elf, sure to delight fans of Buddy’s misadventures and collectors of iconic holiday movie memorabilia.
